Local wealth management firm prepares over 10,000 meals for children in need
December 1, 2011 – HoyleCohen, LLC packaged over 10,000 meals in the fight against hunger on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Staff, their children and guests donated their time to the non-profit organization Stop Hunger Now. Together, the firm gathered after business hours at a community center and packaged the meals in an assembly line fashion.
An educational introduction set the stage for the evening and taught participants about world hunger and how together, they were about to make a difference. Volunteers set up long tables with dehydrated food “packaging”, weighing and boxing stations. They broke into teams of five or more, with each person assigned a role that helped the assembly lines run smoothly and quickly. HoyleCohen paid for the supplies and Stop Hunger Now brought all the materials necessary to package the meals, including: food, bags, containers, scales, spoons, and even funnels to maximize efficiency. By the close of the evening, the meals were boxed and loaded onto a truck, ready to be shipped directly to one of the many areas around the globe in need.
